More than 50 students arrived recently at J.P. Morgan in London for the start of the seventh annual “Spring Week” programm.

Signs of spring were in abundance in London this week. Not only did the clocks go forward over the weekend, but 54 first- and second-year undergraduates from across Europe arrived in the firm’s EMEA headquarters for the second  “Spring Week”  program of 2008.

After being welcomed to the firm by Jakob Stott, chief operating officer of J.P. Morgan in EMEA, the students attended a presentation on the “full life cycle of a deal,” given by representatives from seven different lines of business. The undergraduates also received tips on how to get the most out of their reading of the Financial Times, and heard from senior managers who described their own experiences in the industry, discussed career mobility and provided insights on maintaining a healthy work-life balance.

“I participated in the schools program two years ago with J.P. Morgan, and I knew that I always wanted to come back for Spring Week," said Anisha Shah, a first-year Economics student at the London School of Economics. “J.P. Morgan introduced me to financial services and I've gained a great feel for the firm and its culture. It’s now not so much a question of do I want to work for J.P. Morgan, but more one of, what do I want to do at J.P. Morgan?"

Following on from the success of Spring Week, the firm will welcome approximately 40 first year students on its Industry Impressions program in September. The program is designed to offer first year students or second year students of a four year course, the opportunity to learn more about the Sales, Trading and Research business through interactive sessions and workshadowing across various product areas. Last year, many of the students who attended the program were offered positions for the 2008 Summer Program.
