Investment Banking

How would you help a multinational realize its strategy?

When clients come to us with their financial strategies, they know that we'll realize them. Whether it's merging with another company, making acquisitions or raising money from the equity or debt markets, we do the deals that continue to transform the corporate landscape.

Our close-knit Investment Banking teams are made up of experts in their respective fields. Global transactions don't happen by themselves. Every step needs to be meticulously planned and perfectly executed. Neither are those transactions uniform. Our industry moves fast. Adaptability and a willingness to keep learning are two essential qualities in investment banking.

The responsibilities come early, the rewards are fantastic and the work itself never ceases to captivate.

A global pioneer

We operate across Europe, the Middle East and Africa. All told, we have a local presence in some 25 countries across the region and are strongly represented in London in particular.

It's no wonder that 90% of Fortune 1000 companies and over half of all FTSE 250 companies are clients of ours. In the first half of 2008, JPMorgan advised on seven of the top fifteen deals announced globally, six in the US, four in Europe and five in Asia Pacific1 . In fact, with some $451 billion worth of transactions, we captured a 24% share of the global M&A market2. As well as being one of the world's most trusted advisors in M&A, we're also recognized as market leader in Corporate Banking, Debt and Equity.

The business model

Each account is led by a Client Executive, who will be a particularly experienced and respected member of our Investment Banking team. He or she liaises daily with the Chief Executive Officer, Chief Financial Officer and board of an individual client.

Clients can be drawn from many different areas - multinational corporations, governments, financial institutions, private equity firms or institutional investors. The Client Executives work to define the specific needs of their individual clients, and then, by drawing on the expertise of our different teams, deliver the correct solution.

You will join us as an analyst or associate in one of these four areas:

  • Country based Mergers & Acquisitions
  • Pan-European Industry Sector
  • Country Capital Markets
  • Securitised Products

Read more about these four business groups.

Whichever team you join us in, you can expect exposure to senior clients and major deals from very early in your career. That's a promise, but it's also a word of caution; not everybody's ready for that kind of responsibility.
