Training & Development
All firms will talk about their graduate trainee programmes. Many will talk about getting you ready for the job that you’re about to do. But we’re widely considered to have the best on ‘the Street’. This is why.
Unlike other firms, we don’t keep training regional and we don’t just train you when you’re a trainee. That’s easy. There’s a lot you need to learn and it’s relatively simple to teach. But you don’t just get to a certain level and stay there. Not at JPMorgan.
We believe in life-long learning and a global commitment to training. It doesn’t stop after a couple of years, but continues so that you’re ready for the many uncertainties and opportunities you’ll face over the course of your career, wherever you may be.
So our education programs are the best of all worlds. We mix the theoretical with the practical and make learning accessible and business-focused. On the one hand, some of the world’s leading professors from the world of academia give us the benefit of their knowledge; on the other, over 500 of our own most senior managers are involved in our training programs and many leave their desks to impart priceless practical experience. We’ll never be complacent about our training either. Our analysts and associates who have been through the program are routinely asked what they thought and how it can be improved for future colleagues.
Not that this is anything unusual for us. Personal development is one of our core business principles. Coaching and development are recognized and celebrated as traits you need to lead and succeed. So if you don’t share our commitment to training, you’ll find it very hard to go up in our world.
In short, training isn’t something we pay lip service to - as you’ll discover when you see - or rather hear - any number of the industries most renowned people sharing their thoughts with you.
Wherever your career takes you, you’ll learn a wide range of new skills. Technical ability, though, will only take you so far. By the time you get to VP level, it’s the ability to build relationships that matters most. So we’ll make sure you have those skills well before you become a Vice President.
Of course, it’s not just for your benefit. Our ongoing success depends on employing the most highly-trained and motivated people. That said, we know you’ll get a lot out of it all too.
